Long Duhung Profile
Kampung Long Duhung is located in a valley surrounded by forested hills in the upper reaches of the Kelay River Basin, at the mouth of the Blu River. The Kelay River stretches from the west (Hulu Kelay) to the east (Tanjung Redeb City) for 259 kilometers. The river is an important part of various aspects of the life of the Hulu Kelay community, the majority of which consist of the Mapnan Dayak tribe.
Until 2014, Kampung Long Duhung was inhabited by 37 heads of families from the Dayak Mapnan family, with 73 men and 63 women. Their settlement is close to the river which is the main transportation route for the residents.
In the village land use and spatial plan, residents mapped important areas for the village, including the 1,400 ha Wungun Forest area. From the past until now this path is still used by the people of Long Duhung as the identity of the Dayak Mapnan Hulu Kelay. Along this road there are important areas such as sacred places (some in the form of stones) and ancestral cemeteries. Aside from being a cultural identity, this area also functions as a clean water protected area and fulfillment of basic needs.
