What We Can Achieve Together:
Together with YKAN, The Program Coordinator (Sasi) plays a pivotal role in the field, orchestrating the execution of area-based management strategies, such as the sasi/customary practice for sustainable harvest management in Birds Head Seascape mainly and the potential of replicating the practice to other YKAN’s sites, as well as building local capacity in managing marine resources.

The Program Coordinator (Sasi) is responsible for ensuring smooth field operations, managing teams and resources, and guiding staff to achieve project objectives. They coordinate communication and collaboration between field staff, management, and external stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination and decision-making. In addition, they play a key role in strengthening local knowledge in marine resource management to support the program’s goals.
This position will be based in Sorong and will report to the Coral Reef Specialist and coordinate closely with the Ocean Program Manager and Birds Head Seascape Senior Manager.

What You’ll Bring:
· BA/BS degree in marine/fisheries science related field and 5 years’ experience in marine/fisheries conservation management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience negotiating complex agreements.
· Experience communicating with the public especially coastal community and/or media both in writing and verbally.
· Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
· Fluency in English, both oral and written.
