Together with YKAN, The MPA Manager directs and implements a comprehensive program to protect marine and coastal areas and habitat for rare and endangered plants, animals and local and indigenous communities using the full range of protection tools and collaborate with national, and local government, conservation organizations and other partners as appropriate.

Are you passionate about being a part of group of dedicated employees who are united by our mission to preserve the lands and waters on which all life depends? As MPA Manager oversees all aspects of MPA within GFCR Koralestari Project to achieve Koralestari main objectives through five different solutions and also support the other Indonesia Oceans Program (IOP) MPA sites including development of zoning and management plan, implementation of Management Plan, monitoring, compliance, surveillance system, development of SOPs, training and capacity building of stakeholders, community-based conservation action.

This position will direct strategic planning, program development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning on the program related to MPA Management. The MPA Manager will provide technical support to SUOP/MPA Management Unit and collaborate with national and local government, conservation organizations and other partners as appropriate to advance the management of the MPA.

The MPA Manager will be based in Jakarta with frequent travel to Koralestari target areas and IOP Sites. This position will report to the Oceans Protection Senior Manager.

What You’ll Bring:

          Qualifications: BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in resources management, conservation, MPA management or equivalent combination of education and experience in conservation.

          Tech Savvy:  Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads and finances under deadlines.

          Team Management: Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.

          Fundraising Plan/strategy & Execution: Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or   government agencies. Experience negotiating.

          Language: Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English.
